WBMS FTC is a branch of Free the Children which is an international organization which focuses on supporting kids doing social action work locally and globally. Here at White Brook Middle School, we work locally for the Easthampton Community Center. We volunteer once a month at the "soup kitchen" and we have coat drives, food drives, diaper drives, and toiletry drives supporting our local Easthampton families.
Globally, we work to create sustainable living situations in villages in the area of Kalthana, India thus getting kids in that area out of slave labor situations permanently and into schools.

“Free the Children” Trip
Last Thursday, members of the White Brook Middle School "Free the Children" group, traveled to Radio City Music Hall to celebrate the power of service learning along with 6,000 other students from across the country. It was a day filled with inspirational speakers and live music from various artists. "We Day" celebrates youth making a difference in their local and global communities. Our White Brook “Free the Children” initiative educates and empowers our students, nurtures compassion and gives students the tools to create transformative social change. Our students have raised thousands of dollars over the past four years. Locally, they have donated food, clothing, supplies and service time to the Easthampton Community Center. Globally, they have adopted a village in Kalthana, India, raising enough resources to change the lives of many families. The White Brook “Free the Children” members are true agents of change! |
